We used two of these bags on a recent trip. Strapped them to the top of our MDX, went over 400 miles in the rain and they kept the water out. I agree with the other review, the cover drawstring should be more durable and easier to draw tight. Did not experience any of the "peeling" or "flaking" of the coating on the inside of the bag or the cover that some of the reviews I have read on other sites mention. Overall a very good product. Hard to beat the convenience of wheeling them around, they held alot, and you pack directly into them. The top flap of the bag has a built in clear plastic pocket that closes. Worked very well for holding cosmetics, shampoo, and pretty much everything else that would be in a man's shaving bag or woman's cosmetic bag. Two bags held all the clothing and linens for a family of 6 for 10 days in the cold with some room to spare. We definitely would recommend them. This bag was great. Since we stuffed this bag full, having wheels was much appreciated. We used it on top of a GTI volkswagon. I couldn't believe it but the bag never moved from where we had it fastened. Some of the speed limits we went through were as high as 80 mph. Although the dust cover didn't make it, the extra space this bag provided was very useful. The dust cover is not as durable as the actual bag. It ended up ripping on our way back from CA to FL. Another problem with the dust cover is that the drawstring that tightens the cover around the bag, gets stripped. We had to put duct tape on the drawstring to keep it tight. All in all, great bag, loose the dust cover. I returned home safely alone to Miami yesterday, 4/01/11 with everything I didn't donate or sell in SC crammed into my suv. I didn't feel safe driving uncomfortably crowded with stuff in a downpour, so I looked to purchase something to put some luggage atop my vehicle. The great auto store guy suggested I buy this product. It's inexpensive but tough, waterproof, and excellent. No Tarp nor bungee cords, the straps are sufficient. He put my 5 duffle bags into the carrier, strapped them down for me, and I drove like "The Transporter" down I-95 in inclement weather, problem-free. Would highly recommend this product to everyone. |
