We are smack dab in the middle of teaching our children to swim and so a kickboard was a must. We have a larger one for our 5 year old but it was a bit too big for our 3 1/2 year old to use. This is a very good size and provides her a nice stable platform to practice kicking. Unlike some kickboards which are foam, covered in some other material, this is a solid foam board. The advantage of this is that it holds up under the punishment of chlorine and sun much better then covered foam boards. Just be aware that as the kids get older, it pretty quickly gets too small to provide enough buoyancy. Our 42 pound 5 1/2 year old really can't use it very effectively for that reason.
