Detectorpro Pistol Probe Pulse Pinpointer Reviews

I tried it again on the beaches while on a recent trip because the digging is easy in sand, plenty of room for error. When your at a park, or anywhere you have permission to dig however, you need to know where the target is so you can dig out and replace a plug as to not damage the lawn. Pinpointing can be difficult. You will find many people with a dusty metal detector in their garage because they gave up. The first hole I pinpointed with the DetectorPro returned a coin. Time spent from turning on the detector to having the penny in my hand with the DetectorPro was 1 minute. Since then I have dug about 60 holes with the pinpointer and so far only 3 of those holes turned up nothing. I have a huge pile of change (filled paper plate and stacked up) a handful of some junk and TWO necklaces from a single hole! I am learning that many of what I thought were empty targets, really were not. Instead, the item was in the grass plug, deeper then I realized, flew out... He used a dime as a target and went though the paces with several pointers including this one (the other was a Garrett Pro). The air test demonstration showed this pointer picking up a dime from 4 inches away and now that I own one, I can say those are dependable results. I do not believe you will find another pointer out there with a better detection range. With that said, lets talk about the good points of this pointer: As previously stated, it has an awesome detection range. Additionally, it uses pulse induction to do the detection which is purported to be more effective in highly mineralized soil. This pointer can save you when you've cut a plug, removed it and do not get a return from a pointer with less range (like the Garrett Pro) Here are some of the disappointments: It's huge, while this doesn't affect the unit's functionality, it makes it... I had a problem with the unit - the threshold or frequency control was constantly "ON" and the unit was inoperable in this condition. I contacted both KellyCo and DetectorPro about the problem. They were both very helpful and said to return the unit for a new one, which I did. Just as a side note, KellyCo was very responsive to my needs as they sent a pre-paid UPS label to have the unit sent back at no charge to me. DetectorPro was not willing to do this. Within two days of returning the PistolProbe, a new one was delivered. Hats off to KellyCo for their great customer service. I tested the new unit and it works as advertised. |
