5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Vision Impaired, May 29, 2008

Puchased this scale for my visually impaired grandparents, whose doctor asked that they monitor their weight daily. They're pleased at how precise the weight is, to the tenth of a pound, and that they don't have to ask anyone who happens to visit to read their scale for them. The voice is clear and loud enough, automatically turns on and shuts off, and batteries were included. There's even a setting for weighing in kilograms if you want to go metric. There was a statement in the directions about people with pacemakers using this product. I checked with my grandmother's heart doctor and he said there wouldn't be a problem considering where feet are in relation to the heart, the encasement of the pacemaker, and lenghth of exposure, but checking with your doctor would always be advisable in anyone's case.

Recorded voice is not as clear as it could be. Able to understand but not as sharp & crisp as the voice on higer quality items, such as GPS units. Overall, it does what it said it did.

Unfortunately, this scale did not work even after I tried three different new batteries. I did contact the company and they were very easy to deal with! Full refund including original shipping. Even if the scale did work, I would have returned it. I bought it for my 93-year-old mother who is unsteady on her feet. This scale has a dip where the feet go and it is very slippery. Not good for people unsteady on their feet!
