Forged aluminum rap ring for bail-outs and rap stations. Anodized gray for minimal visual impact. Solid construction (not hollow) for 20kN minimum breaking strength (over 4400lbs)! Not intended for repeated lowering. This device is NOT designed to be used as a rappel or belay device (e.g. ATC, SBGII, Figure-8 or any other friction device). Two of these rings on a carabiner, and the carabiner clipped into the webbing that wraps around the tree. Do this at each end of the hammock line. Very easy to wrap the hammock line through both rings then back in one ring but exit between them. This will temporarily hold the line while you do the same at the other end of the hammock. If you need to adjust the length at one or both sides, it is very simple and fast to do so. Once you have it where you want it, be sure to secure each end further with the hitches and or lashings of your choice - failure to do so can result in injury or damage to your equipment. I learned this from a guy who posted a video of it on hammockforums.net , so the credit (and my thanks) go to him. This review is from: Omega Pacific Rappel Ring (Sports) This is a standard rappel ring, its solid and inexpensive. About 1 1/2 inches in diameter, it is smooth and doesn't heat up as fast as others I've used. (which can be bad for the rope) I lost my old one so this was a cheap replacement.
