This interface is ridiculous (in the best of ways of course). Prior to this I was running audio (Emu SP1200, Akai MPC 2500 and a microKorg) into a Mackie Onyx Satellite. Once I stepped up to this unit, however, sounds opened up like crazy. And things didn't sound in any way terrible before. I'm assuming it has to do with this things A/D converters; this thing really sounds incredible. I was able to hear a level of depth in my audio material that plain and simply was inaudible before. This thing has amazing clarity.

The included software patch bay interface may take some getting used to for some, but once you do, it is very versatile. With it you can route signals to and from your computer via the TRS, XLR & lightpipe inputs. You can also mute, solo, and link channel faders together. This last function is great, as it allows you to move the position of all linked faders relative to one another. You can save more than enough configurations as well. The faders are a bit on... 5.0 out of 5 stars NICE!, May 26, 2010

Not much to say that hasn't been said, but RME did their homework regarding what engineers needed before they made this piece! Almost every 24-28 i/o firewire interface that has come out SINCE this has tried their best to copy this unit, and still can't quite do it! Along with Metric Halo, RME makes the BEST firewire/usb interfaces out there.

There's too much to say about this unit, so I will keep it short. It sounds great, it has tons of I/O, it's drivers are insanely stable, and so far I've never had a single problem with the unit. The Totalmix DSP software brings in a whole new level of possibilities for a computer based audio interface. Throw in Digicheck --a free analysis and metering software-- and you have a nice bit of kit.
