This bobber is ingenious! It allows you to fish in relation to the bottom rather than the water's surface, which makes much more sense. It works best from a boat, since you'll have less trouble making sure the ball-bearing deploys the way it's supposed to. Usually the inertia of a cast drives the ball away from the magnet so that your line can deploy correctly, but sometimes it doesn't. This is just something you have to be aware of. If you make a very soft cast, sometimes the magnet doesn't release and the line doesn't flow to the bottom smoothly. I recommend enlarging the tiny, rough hole in the cap a little bit, drilling it out smoothly so that the line flows freely. Wind is not a factor. The aerodynamic design makes it impervious to high wind conditions. But strong current and big waves can be a problem with this bobber.
